South Mission Beach Sports Park - San Diego California

The South Mission Beach Sports Park is a non-profit public park founded by
Bill Walton and Bruk Vandeweghe. Located in beautiful South Mission Beach
in San Diego, Ca., the grounds have been improved for the enjoyment of the
public, active basketball and beach volleyball players and social activities.

The park is affiliated with two websites.

1) South Mission Beach Sports Park

You will receive a receipt for tax purposes.
- Beach Volleyball - South Mission Beach is home to 14 beach volleyball courts that are set up with nets and lines on a 24/7 basis.
Many people come to play on these courts and the level ranges from novice to pro. The courts are set up on a first
come first serve basis except for permitted events/tournaments scheduled through San Diego Parks & Rec.
- Adopt-A-Court offers an opportunity for your business to advertise you company name, web site and phone
number on the tapes of our beach volleyball nets at South Mission Beach Sports Park. The commitment will
be for 2 years and will supply us with money to cover the following expenses: Poles ($220), net with
your logo – must be blue with white ink ($500), hardware ($18), lines ($45), paint ($12) for a total
of $795. We will guarantee that your net will be up 24/7/365 on our courts for two years unless by
some act of God or vandalism happens to take it down before that time. If either event occur we will
contact you immediately and offer to pay for 1/2 of the net fee and update your commitment. If you
have any questions or would like to commit to more than one court please
contact us.
- Basketball - South Mission Beach Sports Park is home to one outdoor basketball court. This court
is maintained through donations from Bill Walton. Pick up games are the most common style of play on
this court and range from 3-on-3 half court to 5-on-5 full court. Summer weekends and early evenings
are the most popular time to find others who enjoy pick-up games.

2) San Diego BIG (Beach Improvement Group)
- Mission: Through community input and involvement, San Diego Beach Improvement Group, a non profit organization,
will bring people and resources together to enhance, beautify and revitalize the beach experience. By building
athletic equipment, children's playgrounds and developing programs that encourage all ages to be active - these
family-friendly enhancements can be enjoyed by community members, visitors and all San Diegans.
- Goal: For each area of focus, we will collect surveys of local community members, business owners and
visitors, create voting options on-line, then actively pursue resources through sports events, fundraisers,
donations, grants and sponsorship to accomplish our goals. Some sample enhancements may include better park
lighting, childrens' playground equipment, drinking fountains, bike racks, beach volleyball courts, a snack
bar and more.

If you live South of Pacific Beach Drive, and west of Mission Bay, you qualify as a Mission Beach Resident.
The South
Mission Beach Sports Park, in conjunction with San Diego BIG
is currently engrosed in an effort to expand the number of volleyball courts
in S. Mission Beach. In order to add more courts, we need the approval of the Mission Beach Town Council.
Membership is only $20 per year for an invididual and $30 per couple.
